I started homeschooling my two youngest this year. The youngest is in 3rd grade and was feeling awkward about no longer wearing a uniform when she left the house on school days. So I thought it would be helpful to design a logo for them and make it feel official.

Leornian means to learn and teach at the same time. I’ve created a website to track our progress if you are interested. Our approach is to incorporate as much creative thinking and activity into our studies as we can. The kids wanted a mascot and we could not decide on just one. K wanted a penguin, E wanted a horse, and I wanted a lion. So I incorporated all three into the icon. I love how the lion is hidden in the positive/negative space.

I love the logo because it really represents us. The icon has the color wheel behind it and the L has electrons spinning around it. I think it looks like fun but also somewhat formal. We take our learning seriously but we are going about it in an unconventional, creative, eclectic way!
